The Finance Acctg Group Manager is a senior level position and accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas related to U.S Retail Banking. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.U.S. Retail Banking is a central part of the North America Global Consumer Bank and key to Citigroup 's Global Consumer presence. U.S Retail Banking provides traditional banking services to retail customers and small to mid-size businesses in the U.S. As of June 30, 2021, the U.S Retail Banking had 659 retail bank branches, $4B of loans, $204B of deposits and $85B in client investment assets under management, with annualized revenue of $3.7B. - The business operates primarily within the Citibank, N.A. and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. legal entities.Responsibilities:

  • Ensure ongoing financial statements and processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in accordance with management reporting requirements, for legal vehicle & regulatory purposes
  • Own the month-end close process in partnership with Mumbai & Costa Rica FRSS and Operations to ensure actuals are reported accurately
  • Responsible for the independent review and challenge process related to the Comprehensive Capital Assessment Review (CCAR) process
  • Own the quarterly 10K/10Q and supplement review process in partnership with Costa Rica FRSS to ensure actuals are properly disclosure in the reporting narratives and footnotes
  • Responsible for the process around evaluation, coordination, implementation of new products with the various functional areas including the Business, Operations, Finance, and Approval Committees
  • Collaborate with FP&A partners to ensure management reporting needs are met and Finance is adding maximum value to the Business
  • Present Controller updates during Senior Leadership forums related to Risk, Compliance, Litigation and Controls topics
  • Interface with Accounting Policy on a recurring basis to discuss non-routine transactions and new accounting guidance and advise the business on the financial and operational impacts
  • Display technical accounting and disclosure knowledge around core concepts related to loan, deposit, and investment products including loan loss reserves, origination cost/fees, impairments, valuations, revenue recognition, accruals and rate and spread analysis
  • Participate in the review of the end-to-end Sarbanes-Oxley documentation
    • 10+ years of relevant experience
    • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent
    • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with a wide range of people across different functions and levels of seniority. Analytical skills are a must. Ability to manage and lead a team.
    • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-starter who proactively seeks to improve existing controls and streamline processes both from a tactical short term viewpoint, and also from a strategic long term perspective
